Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since spring of that year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional championship, took control to force a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial break points in a close third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
